“At the end of the day, we can endure much more than we think we can.”Frida Kahlo
I could blog about the difficulties I have faced in my life, the challenges and the dark places I’ve been. If I did that, it would diminish the joy I feel in having persevered. I am not tooting my horn. I’m saying that we can all find the motivation to move on and leave the darkness behind. I’ve learned that darkness will return again and again and each time I push through it, something magical greets me on the other side. If I attempted to highlight the good and the bad, this would be a novel and not a blog!
I do believe that mosaic art found me at a time when I needed some light. Since that time, I have immersed myself in my own artistic journey, have learned so much and have met so amazing people along the way. I honestly cannot think of anything more inspiring than the knowledge that there is always something there waiting for me to discover!
I have long been an admirer of Frida Kahlo. Who could inspire an artist more than FRIDA? My love for Mexico blossomed long before I had ever heard of FRIDA. She was born and lived her entire life in Mexico. She endured years of pain and suffering and yet to this day she is revered by everyone who knows her story and is especially admired by the art culture.
Of much interest and curiosity are the self-portraits and the diaries of FRIDA. Many have painted her. Not known as a classically beautiful woman, her grace and playful personality along with her very unique style have made her an enduring icon.
I am so inspired by the life she led, the art she created and her passion for life in such a challenging situation. Many of my new found artist friends have painted FRIDA and I’d like to share a few images of their work.
There is nothing to be gained by giving up. I know that I share this sentiment with FRIDA!!!
